# Google Chrome 153 Update Patches Critical Security Vulnerabilities

Google has rolled out a significant update to its Chrome browser, version 153, which addresses 42 security vulnerabilities, including three marked as critical. The update is gradually being made available for Windows, macOS, and Linux users, and is crucial for maintaining the security of the browser. Among the critical vulnerabilities are CVE-2026-91721, a use-after-free issue in Chrome's internals; CVE-2026-91749, another use-after-free flaw affecting Workers; and CVE-2026-91726, an out-of-bounds read in WebGL. These types of vulnerabilities can lead to severe consequences such as crashes, data exposure, and even arbitrary code execution if exploited. Google has yet to disclose specific exploit scenarios for these critical issues. 

In addition to the critical vulnerabilities, Chrome 153 addresses 27 high-severity issues affecting several components of the browser. These include flaws like use-after-free, type-confusion, integer overflows, and race conditions, which further underscore the complexity of securing a modern browser. The update also fixes a range of medium and low-severity issues, including authorization failures and improper input validation. Google has rewarded researchers who reported some of these vulnerabilities, with amounts yet to be determined for several findings. 

To ensure full protection, users should update their Chrome browsers immediately. This can be done by navigating to the 'Help' section in the Chrome menu and selecting 'About Google Chrome', which triggers the update process and allows users to relaunch the browser with the latest security patches applied. Enterprise administrators are advised to expedite the deployment of this update across all managed devices, verifying that the updated version is running and addressing any devices that have not yet applied the update. Google's centralized update management tools can assist administrators in this process, but manual checks are necessary for unmanaged or rarely connected systems.
