## Article

An Indore-based contractor has fallen victim to a fraudulent operation that promised a ₹15 crore business loan, resulting in a loss of over ₹1.5 crore. This incident has sparked a broader investigation into a suspected organized cybercrime network. Authorities are delving into the operational strategies and financial transactions of the group, which has been linked to a South Indian actor and actress, although their roles remain unclear. The fraudsters targeted business owners who were struggling to secure large loans from traditional banks, exploiting their desperation with promises of quick approvals and minimal paperwork.

The investigation has uncovered that the siphoned funds were spread across more than 200 bank accounts. Law enforcement is meticulously tracing these accounts, scrutinizing financial records, and analyzing digital transaction trails to identify the ultimate beneficiaries. The scam’s method, which mirrors previous frauds involving a ₹10 crore loan, suggests a coordinated inter-state cybercrime network.

The perpetrators reportedly gained the trust of their victims by offering expedited loan approvals, followed by demands for various payments such as processing fees and registration charges. In video calls, they displayed boxes they claimed contained ₹15 crore in cash, convincing victims that the funds would be released upon completing certain formalities. A similar case with a ₹10 crore loan promise employed the same tactics, using visuals of cash to deceive victims.

The victim in this case reported that the scammers temporarily took his mobile device, scanned personal documents, and created forged papers in his name. These forged documents were allegedly used in financial processes related to the scam. Legal representatives noted that the victim paid over ₹1.5 crore through multiple installments over time, realizing the fraud only when the promised loan did not materialize. Initially hesitant due to reputational concerns, the victim eventually filed a complaint after learning about a successful fund recovery in a similar case.

Experts warn businesses to independently verify the legitimacy and compliance of any private lender or intermediary before proceeding with transactions. Law enforcement continues to investigate the wider network and financial pathways, seeking additional suspects involved in this scheme.
