Frenos, an AI-native operational technology security startup, has successfully raised $1.52 million in an extended seed funding round. This latest investment was spearheaded by Momenta and Exposition Ventures, with additional backing from Riptide Ventures. The new funds bring Frenos' total capital raised to $6.4 million. The company plans to utilize this funding to enhance its customer success capabilities and to further develop its research and development in artificial intelligence.

Alongside the funding news, Frenos has introduced SAIRA Co-Work, an AI reasoning agent that provides evidence-based insights during intricate investigations. Established in 2023, Frenos is based in the United States and has developed an autonomous platform for assessing the security of operational technology systems. This platform continuously validates the security posture of OT systems using a digital twin of the customer's network, enabling fully simulated penetration tests that validate attack paths, chain exploits, and prioritize risks.

Frenos' approach is designed to drastically reduce assessment time, eliminate downtime, and require no additional hardware or scanning. It is considered risk-free by the company. Robert M. Lee, co-founder and CEO of Dragos and an advisory board member for Frenos, emphasized that the platform uniquely identifies defensive vulnerabilities rather than just highlighting exposed areas, which is critical for understanding potential attack paths that could disrupt processes. Lee's endorsement of Frenos underscores the innovative nature of their platform, which does not jeopardize production systems while testing.

This funding and technological advancement highlight Frenos' commitment to enhancing security in industrial settings, addressing a significant need for advanced OT security solutions in the face of evolving cyber threats.
