A significant cyber fraud network linked to Dubai has been uncovered by the Kanpur Crime Branch, leading to the arrest of three individuals. Authorities are examining the involvement of 23 bank employees, raising suspicions of collusion in a financial scheme involving ₹23 crore, with potential losses estimated at ₹5,000 crore. The suspects, identified as Kapil Verma alias Shanty, Abhay Pratap, and Rohit Singh, allegedly orchestrated a network to provide bank accounts to cybercriminals. These accounts were opened under false pretenses and used to process illegal funds.

The investigation has traced transactions worth ₹23 crore, with the possibility of reaching ₹100 crore as more accounts are scrutinized. Funds were channeled through various banking systems and informal transfer methods like hawala, with 40% of the proceeds reportedly distributed as commissions. The involvement of employees from multiple banks, including Bank of India and HDFC Bank, has been noted, though contact with suspects does not necessarily indicate criminal involvement.

The investigation began after 29 fraud complaints led to suspicious banking activity discoveries. Authorities are examining digital and financial records to map the network's activities, focusing on mule accounts that obscure the flow of stolen funds. The probe continues to expand, with Dubai-based connections being traced and additional suspects being pursued. Among them is Abhay Shukla alias Sultan Mirza alias John Cena, identified as a key figure. The case underscores the challenges of combating cross-border cybercrime and the need for coordinated efforts to dismantle these sophisticated networks.
