A recent cyberattack has led to the publication of sensitive information related to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant located in Tamil Nadu, India. The breach has exposed nearly 19,000 files, amounting to 14.3 gigabytes, containing alleged blueprints and supplier data. This incident, first identified by independent researcher Rakesh Krishnan, highlights vulnerabilities in the security infrastructure of key national projects. The Reliance Group, a contractor for the plant, confirmed a partial data breach on a server managed by Yotta, a third-party data center provider. Although the exact nature of the leaked data remains undisclosed, the breach poses a significant risk to the plant's safety and underscores the growing frequency of cyberattacks in India. Nickolas Roth from the Nuclear Threat Initiative warns that such breaches could have severe implications for nuclear security. As cyber threats become more prevalent, it is crucial for organizations, especially those handling sensitive information, to enhance their cybersecurity measures.
